The Contender (Abandoned)

"Teri?" The voice came from the other side of the door, followed by a couple of light knocks.

"Yeah?" She answered with her mouth full.

"Can I come in?"

"Yeah, come on in."

The door opened and in stepped a nerdy looking guy. He wore a white dress shirt and black slacks; his hair spiked because of its short length.

"What's up?" Teri asked.

"I just wanted to make sure you were ready, the match starts in an hour."

"I'm getting there, Vic; just finishing lunch."

Victor looked down at the bench Teri was eating on. His face turned to disappointment.

"Really? A sausage and egg burrito? You think that is what you should be eating before perhaps the biggest match of your life?!"

"Okay, one, it's chorizo not sausage. Two, I don't think I asked you your opinion on my diet."

"I'm sorry, I just...I wanna see you win. This is a great opportunity."

"Don't worry, I'll win no problem," she said, getting up and putting a shoulder on Victor. Her greasy hands left stains on his shirt which he noticed immediately.

"Ah, sorry...looks like I messed up your shirt," Teri said laughing.

"Why do you do that? Huh?!"

"Come on, lighten up a little man."

Victor said nothing; he turned and left the room in a huff.

Teri laughed to herself as she sat back down to her meal.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! The WBL, sponsored by Osh, is proud to present tonight's match for the Women's Boxing Championship belt. Coming out first, we have the contender weighing in tonight at 174 pounds, she hails from Salinas, California, in the green shorts, Ms. Teri Reider!"

The crowd went crazy as Teri came out; boos and cheers filled the auditorium. She came down her ramp aggressively, Victor following closely behind her.

"You ready for this?"

"Oh yeah!"

Teri entered the ring and celebrated a bit and the crowd cheered her on. She never felt better in her whole life; this was going to be some match for sure.

"And coming out now, the champion weighing in at 187 pounds, she hails from New York City, New York, in the red shorts, Ms. Harmony Williams!

Teri watched as Harmony strolled out confidently, the gold belt around her waist. She stared at it. She wanted it and as God as her witness she was going to get it.

Harmony did very little to pump up her crowd but she didn't need to, her following would tag along with her off a cliff.

The two women met in the middle of the ring with the referee.

"Okay ladies, I want a clean bout. When I break, go back to your neutral corners and wait for the bell. Once I ring the bell again, it's over, go back to your corners and wait for the next round, this is your only warning. Got it?"

The two nodded.

"Alright, gloves up."

The two bumped their gloves and went into their corners.

Both women stared at each other with incredible intensity; they both were going to fight until they couldn't anymore.

The bell rang and both boxers hopped out and into action.

Harmony took a quick left jab at Teri's face but she dodged it and delivered a hard right hook to the champ's stomach. Harmony retaliated with a right cross which landed smack in Teri's face, putting her out of it for a moment. The blows went back and forth on both sides, neither woman having a single weakness for more than a split second.

There was a minute left in the round when suddenly, Teri took a terrible left hook right in the stomach. She held her stomach in pain while trying to fight off Harmony. After what seemed like hours, the bell rang and Teri retreated to her corner.

"What's wrong?" Victor asked.

"I don't know, I have some terrible stomach pains."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Nothing, I'll be fine."

"Okay."

Victor gave her some water as Teri caught her breath.

The bell rang again.

"Go Teri!" Victor yelled.

Teri jumped out and quickly delivered an uppercut to Harmony but she left her body wide open for too long as Harmony landed hard jabs.

The stomach pains got worse, Teri was getting ready to give up when a cross landed directly to her gut.

PRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

A fart exploded loudly out from her. Harmony looked at her, in fact, everything stopped for a moment. Everyone had heard it; snickers started to arise from the crowd. Teri was embarrassed but she felt better too. She quickly turned to Harmony and hit her with a right hook, making connection perfectly.
